Attachment Theory
My Family incorporates key concepts from Attachment Theory to enable practitioners to support parents to explore and reflect on the functioning of their relationship(s) with their child/ren.
By focusing on the 'Disruptive Risks' within and surrounding parent-child relationships, the assessment encourages practitioners to formulate recommendations that help increase emotional attunement, empathy, and safety within the relationship(s).
Unlike other safeguarding assessment tools, My Family has a focus on providing parents with educational support to help them understand the ideas and concepts that have been used to inform their assessment.
Why is Attachment Theory important?
If relationships are where things developmentally go wrong, then relationships are where they are most likely to be put right!"
